BEACHES IN INDIA

1, Varkala, Kerala

Varkala beach is located about an hour north of Kerala's capital, Trivandrum, and offers a more tranquil alternative to the now-commercialized Kovalam beach. With a seemingly endless paved stretch of cliff bordered by shacks on one side and views that reach over the Arabian Sea on the other, the environment of this beach is enough to take your breath away. It's the ideal spot to unwind and relax.

2, Gokarna, Karnataka

Do you believe Goa has been too crowded and commercialised in recent years? Gokarna is a small holy town in northern Karnataka that is surrounded by four of India's most secluded beaches. It attracts both religious tourists and leisure travellers with equal zeal. Visit there to get a sense of what Goa was like in its heyday, but time is limited because developers have already recognised the area's potential.

3, Palolem, South Goa

Palolem Beach is probably Goa's most beautiful. It's a mile-long, semi-circle-shaped beach with a dense forest of coconut palms surrounding it. Every year, the beach becomes more popular, and it is now the most popular beach in South Goa. It does, however, maintain its laid-back vibe because permanent buildings are not permitted to be constructed on it.

4, Agonda, South Goa

Agonda Beach in South Goa is the place to be if you want to get away from it all! Stay in a hut right on the beach and soak up the peace and quiet. There are a few shacks and small shops along the back of the beach, but there's not much else to do there except eat, drink, swim, and relax.

5, Arambol. North Goa

Arambol, which has gone from a sleepy fishing village to Goa's most famous beach, has really started to draw in the crowds (unfortunately, perhaps to the point of saturation). It does, however, have a traveller vibe, with live music and beach jam sessions. There are also a variety of complementary therapies available, such as meditation, yoga, tai chi, and reiki. From Arambol, you can walk south to a more tranquil neighbourhood.
