5 WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES IN INDIA

1, The Sundarbans National Park is located in the Ganges Delta and is part of the Sundarbans. One of the main reserves for Bengal tigers is the Delta, which is heavily covered in mangrove forests. The Sundarbans, like the Kaziranga in Assam, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting the global significance of this ecological wonder. Since 2019, it has been designated as a Ramsar site, highlighting its significance.

2, Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is situated in the Assam districts of Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, and Nagaon. Kaziranga is home to two-thirds of the world's great one-horned rhinoceros and has the world's highest tiger density among protected areas. To get around the country, you can take Mahout-guided elephant rides, Jeep rides, or other 4WD vehicle rides.

3, Situated in Gujrat Gir National Park is the only place in the world where you can spot lions roaming free in the wild, only other exception being wilderness of Africa. Settled at the western Gujarati peninsula, the Gir Forest was formerly a part of the Nawab of Junagarh’s private hunting grounds. Gir is home to 523 Lions, 300 Leopards, 200 species of birds, 40 species of reptiles and amphibians. Gir National Park does not have a dedicated area for visitors, much to the dismay of nature lovers. An Interpretation Zone has been developed at Devalia within the sanctuary to encourage eco-tourism.

4, The Corbett National Park, which was founded before India's independence in 1936, is India's oldest and best-protected ecological site. It was made public in order to protect the Bengal tiger, which is critically endangered. It is situated in Uttarakhand's Nainital and Pauri Garhwal districts. Though the primary goal is to protect wildlife, the reserve's management has promoted ecotourism, and each year a festival is held. The most common mode of transportation within the national park is a Jeep Safari; jeeps can be rented for park trips from Ramnagar. An Elephant Ride is also an option.
